Agentic Commerce & the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP)

Online shopping is entering the age of AI agents. With Google's launch of the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), assistants like Gemini and Google AI Mode can now search, compare and buy products on behalf of consumers. ZCOMMERCE was built for this world: Europe's first sustainable, decentralized and “UCP-ready” meta-marketplace.

What is the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP)?

The Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) is an open standard unveiled by Google at the NRF 2026 keynote (January 11, 2026) and co-developed with Shopify, alongside Etsy, Target, Walmart and Wayfair, backed by 20+ major players (Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Stripe, Adyen…).

Its goal: a common language for platforms, AI agents and merchants to run end-to-end transactions — from product discovery to checkout — without custom integrations. UCP is built on proven standards (REST, JSON-RPC) and works with AP2 (Agent Payments Protocol), A2A (Agent2Agent) and MCP (Model Context Protocol).

It covers five core capabilities of agentic commerce: product discovery (catalog), cart, identity linking, checkout and order management. Crucially for merchants: you remain the Merchant of Record and keep your customer data and relationships.

Why UCP changes everything for e-commerce

Google AI Mode passed one billion monthly users in 2026, with query volume doubling every quarter. “I search, I click, I buy” is giving way to “my AI agent handles it”. Classic SEO is now paired with GEO (Generative Engine Optimization): being understood and selected by AI agents. In Europe, few players are ready — a real window of opportunity.

ZCOMMERCE is already “UCP-ready”

ZCOMMERCE runs on Shopify, co-creator of UCP. In practice, our catalog is natively exposed to AI agents through Shopify's Catalog MCP and Checkout MCP servers — the technical building blocks of UCP. Any AI agent that speaks MCP can already search our products, build a cart and trigger a secure checkout.

Beyond technical compatibility, ZCOMMERCE adds three differentiators built for agentic commerce: structured, reliable product data so agents can understand and recommend our products; blockchain-certified authenticity (a decisive trust signal when an AI does the buying); and the Jarvis AI, which distributes sellers' products across 100+ marketplaces.

For sellers: sell where AI agents buy

Joining ZCOMMERCE makes your products visible and buyable by the new generation of AI shoppers — with no development. Our Jarvis AI distributes your offers across 100+ marketplaces and exposes them to agentic commerce via Shopify's UCP infrastructure. Become a ZCOMMERCE seller.

For buyers: trust, authenticity, circular economy

Every product bought on ZCOMMERCE is blockchain-certified and can be resold through our Z·Token circular program. When an AI can buy for you, this traceability becomes a major trust signal. Explore the catalog.
